PGY2 Residency In Oncology
The Department of Pharmacy Services at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers is recruiting applicants for a one-year ASHP accredited PGY2 Residency in Hematology/Oncology. This specialty residency will begin July 1, 2009. The program director and contact person is Emily Mackler, Pharm.D. The following training and experience will be gained: Oncology Pharmacy Practice: Clinical experience for this residency will be tailored to the individual's interest. Experience will be gained in the management of inpatient and outpatient adult and pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant patients. There is also opportunity for clinical rotations in palliative care, nutrition support, investigational drug service, gynecologic oncology, surgical oncology, infectious diseases, and medical intensive care unit. Research and Publications: The resident will participate in the development and implementation of a research study protocol of interest, relevant to oncology clinical research. Experience in protocol writing, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation and publication will be provided. Development of writing and presentation skills is available through writing of review articles and research papers, providing written communication to other healthcare professionals, as well as presentations to the Department of Pharmacy personnel and at local, regional and national meetings. Teaching: Teaching experience for both Pharm.D. students and pharmacy practice residents is provided. Experience will primarily involve experiential training with the potential for didactic teaching as well. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience.
