PGY2 Residency In Drug Information
The Department of Pharmacy Services at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers is recruiting applicants for a one-year PGY2 Specialty Residency in Drug Information Practice. This specialty residency will begin July 1, 2009. The primary preceptor is Burgunda Sweet, Pharm.D. In order to develop an expert level of competency in drug information practice, the resident will be provided with experience in:
Clinical Practice: Clinical experience includes responding to questions from health care professionals and others within southeastern Michigan, support of Inpatient and Ambulatory Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees, publication of the web-based Pharmacy Newsletter, selection of pharmaceutical products and vendors, and coordination of institutional compliance with adverse drug reaction and product defect reporting programs as well as selected quality improvement initiatives. In addition, elective rotations that meet the objectives of the resident will be provided.
Research: Projects will be assigned to develop research skills and may include drug utilization review, pharmacoeconomic analyses, and administrative projects.
Teaching: Teaching opportunities include precepting pharmacy residents and students during Drug Information Service clerkships, development and presentation of pharmacy continuing education programs, and didactic lectures at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy.
Minimum qualifications include an advanced degree; residency or equivalent training. The application deadline is January 2, 2009. For more information please contact:
