Michael McGregory
(michmcgr@umich.edu)
is the first Pharmacy Informatics/Technology specialty resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. He comes to Michigan from his hometown of Indianapolis, IN where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Butler University in 2002. Michael first worked for the Universitys Information Technology department and went on to complete a Pharmacy Practice residency at Community Health Network. There, unique opportunities to participate in Pharmacy department preparations and go-live for the Indiana Heart Hospital, an all-digital cardiovascular center, fostered a desire to pursue a career merging Pharmacy Practice with technology. His professional interests include clinical alerting systems, handheld computers and things that make noise.
Michael Nailor is a native of Bakersfield, California. He attended California State University, Bakersfield and received a B.S. in Chemistry. Michael moved north for Pharmacy school and attended the University of California, San Francisco. At UCSF he enjoyed competing in a friendly game of "tower ball" (a modified version of ultimate Frisbee) in which he suffered much head trauma that lead to his decision to pursue a Pharmacy residency. After Pharmacy school, Michael got on I-80 and headed east to Sacramento to complete a Pharmacy Practice residency at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. There he found a number of excellent mentors and developed a number of what will be life long friendships. Michael had so much fun moving east that he jumped back on I-80 and got off in Michigan where he is currently an Infectious Disease Pharmacy specialty resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. Michaels focus this year will be directed toward anti-fungal therapies and acclimating to (surviving) a climate in which highs in temperature are colder than most lows in California.
William Prescott received his PharmD from the State University of New York at Buffalo in May of 2002. After completing his Pharmacy Practice residency at the University of Michigan this past year, Bill decided he liked Ann Arbor so much that he couldnt imagine the thought of leaving, and chose to stay on to do his specialty residency in Pediatric Pharmacotherapy. When not golfing, working out, rollerblading, swing dancing, or attending Michigan football and hockey games, Bill finds time to do some work. In addition to his clinical rotations, he is conducting a study in a pediatric pulmonary cohort, investigating the accuracy of central catheter draws for the monitoring of serum aminoglycoside concentrations. Bill is also currently writing several papers, most of which do pertain to kids care. When finished with his residency, Bill hopes to take a couple months off to bum around the U.S. and Europe, for what else, but to "find himself". Bill plans to pursue a position as a pediatric clinical pharmacist in an academic institution, and would like to soon thereafter attain professorship.
Hanady Sharabash
(hanadys@umich.edu )
received her PharmD from the University of Illinois Chicago and is currently a Pharmacy Practice resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. Prior to receiving her PharmD, she did her pre-Pharmacy undergraduate course work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Like co-resident Stephanie Taber, her family is originally from Illinois where she was raised. Hanady feels that thus far her residency has been a tremendous learning experience. The University of Michigan has provided her with good exposure to many areas of clinical practice, so she is currently undecided as to where her future focus will be. Hopefully, this will resolve as the year goes on. Her research project involves determining whether N-acetylcysteine has renal protective effects in transplant patients treated with cyclosporine or tacrolimus prior to undergoing an IV contrast dye procedure. Her writing project will review Oxandrolone use in trauma and burn patients. Outside of work, Hanady enjoys catching up on sleep, running in Ann Arbor parks, and cooking (but not cleaning).
