Nutrition Counseling Centers FAQ
What happens during the initial consultation?
A typical appointment will include a complete nutritional and medical history, an assessment
of nutritional status, and the provision of a realistic plan of action based on the readiness,
level of understanding, motivation and needs of the client. This individualized plan will
reflect information that is up to date, accurate and medically sound.
Follow-up sessions are scheduled for 15-60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are used to reinforce nutrition goals, estimate current intake, create menu plans and provide additional nutrition information. Family members are welcome to attend the sessions.
What are the costs? What about insurance?
The fee for this service is pro-rated at $112/hour. Time spent depends on the complexity of the
medical diagnosis and the information provided. First sessions are usually 45-90 minutes. Some
insurance companies will cover nutrition counseling for some diagnoses. If this is a concern,
be sure to contact your insurance provider before your appointment.
We look forward to helping you make healthy changes in your lifestyle!
