CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!

Like you, we are interested in the wonderful relationship that will develop between you and your baby. At the Perinatal Infant-Mother Attachment and Cortisol Study (PIMACS), we are studying mother’s health issues during pregnancy, baby’s development, and how mother and baby interact with one another during baby’s first year.

Will you join us?
You may remember that during your recent OB clinic appointment at the University of Michigan, you completed a survey for our study and indicated that you were willing to have follow-up contact from us. We want you to know how much we appreciate your help!! We are writing now to offer you the opportunity to participate in our study. Participation in our research is completely voluntary. We are interested in learning whether there is a connection between stress and infant development. Our study will involve several contacts with you over a two year period and we will be asking you to complete several questionnaires as well as looking at stress hormones in your blood and saliva. We will also be asking you to collect saliva samples from your baby once he/she is born and to allow us to observe you and your baby at play. You will receive payment for your time and effort. Please read the enclosed Explanation of Study for more detailed information. Sometime in the next week, we will call to see if you would be interested and willing to participate in our study. At that time, you can tell us if you would like to participate or not. In the mean time, if you would like to find out more about the study, you can contact us, check out our website here, or ask one of our research assistants in the OB clinic when you are there for your next appointment. Thank you so much for your consideration and congratulations again!
