lumeng Julie Lumeng, M.D.
Dr. Lumeng completed medical school and her pediatric residency at the University of Michigan. She completed a fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and developmental and behavioral pediatrics. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 young children.

Charla Sanders
Charla Sanders is the Fetal Alcohol Center Clinic Coordinator.
She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Michigan and will soon begin her graduate studies in social work. She enjoys traveling and running marathons with her mother.

blackman Steve Blackman
Dr. Blackman received his medical degree from the University of Louisville, KY and completed his residency at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He is board-certified in pediatrics. He is currently a pediatrician at West Ann Arbor Health Center for the University of Michigan. His special interests include developmental and behavioral pediatrics. Dr. Blackman holds a pilot’s license and enjoys tennis, skiing, and traveling and spending time with his nine grandchildren.
heys Marie Heys
Marie is a family nurse practitioner who has worked in pediatrics for most of her career. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan M.S. and Nurse Practitioner Program. She works at the Packard Community Clinic two days a week. She enjoys reading and exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
morado Carolyn Morado
Carolyn is an educational psychologist. She is a retired educator with a background in public school and university teaching and public school administration. She completed a Ph.D. in Psychology from Boston University and a Postdoctoral fellowship in Child Development and Social Policy at the University of Michigan. She was a participant in the video, "Students Like Me: Teaching Children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome", and she has made numberous conference presentations and led workshops on fetal alcohol syndrome.
yee Christy Yee
Christy is a registered occupational therapist with the State of Michigan and holds specialty certification in Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing (SIPT). She has worked solely in pediatrics since graduation from Eastern Michigan University in December of 1996. She currently works for the Ann Arbor Public School District.
soden Betsy Soden
Betsy is the adoptive mother of two adults, one of whom has a diagnosis in the spectrum of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). She received a B.A. teaching certificate and M.A. from the University of Michigan. She taught French and Spanish in Michigan public schools and English as a Second Language in universities in this country and overseas for 38 years. Drawing on their experiences as parenting a child with an FASD, Betsy and her husband Vern lead a monthly support group for families parenting children/adults affected by prenatal alcohol exposure. They are also community educators and have given many presentations on FASD to high school and university students and to staff of service providers. Betsy provides educational resources to families seen in clinic and serves as a parent advocate for these and other families across the state.
vern soden Vern Soden
Vern provides technical support for the clinic. This includes computer photo analysis, timing and signaling equipment and anything else of a technical nature. In addition Vern and Betsy do educational FASD presentations to the community whenever possible. Vern is a retired U-M engineer who spent 28 years with Space Physics Research Laboratory and the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences Department.
browning Mary Browning
Mary is the mother of five adult children, three of whom are biological, and two of whom are adopted. She has personal experience caring for her two adopted children, both of whom werre prenatally exposed to alcohol. She graduated from Penn State with a B.S. and has post-graduate experience from Wayne State that enabled her to receive a Michigan teaching certificate. Her experience as a nursery school teacher and as a mother make her an asset in our clinic as a child-life support person.
