Our Graduates

One of the most important goals of the program is to ensure that residents are well-prepared for the next stage of their careers and successfully secure the position of their choice.

From the moment that residents join the program, the resident’s mentor, program directors, and staff work together to maximize his/her opportunities.  Career development seminars offer specific “just in time” advice on steps such as preparing a curriculum vitae, interviewing, negotiating a contract, etc.  For residents with strong research backgrounds, the program offers support for participation in a variety of research pathways approved by the American Board of Pediatrics.  Residents interested in pursuing sub-specialty training will find that they are well-prepared and highly sought after – even by the most competitive fellowship programs.  Residents seeking a Hospitalist career or primary care practice opportunity are similarly well-prepared.  All residents have the flexibility, especially in their third year, to personalize their training by doing rotations that are individually arranged and range from a primary care elective month stressing practice based skills for primary care bound residents to research or other electives that support the resident’s goals.

Our graduates are well represented in diverse practice settings, highly competitive sub-specialty fellowships, hospitalist positions, and Robert Wood Johnson and other academic fellowships.
