Specialty: Pediatric Nephrology
Clinical Interests: Dr. Blatts' clinical interests include general inpatient and outpatient nephrology including critcal care nephrology and the use of continuous renal replacement therapies. As Nephrology lead of the new Integrated Systemic Inflammation Clinic, his interests are in the impact of autoimmune disease such as lupus on the kidney including its diagnosis and treatment.
Research Interests: Dr. Blatts' research focuses on acute kidney injury. He is interested in its diagnosis with novel urinary biomarkers, as well as the interplay of acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapy, and lymphocyte function on each other. He has been involved in the development of Bz-423, a novel lead compound for the treatment of autoimmune disease.

Pediatric and Adult Rheumatology
Clinical Interests: Internal medicine, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), adolescent rheumatology, and pediatric sports medicine.
Research Interests: Long term outcomes of patients with SLE, affect of steroids on bone density, and education of student athletes for reduction of heart disease and osteoporosis. Novel educational methods for undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Clinical Interests: Glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome. Therapy of childhood nephrotic syndrome.
