The Department of Pediatrics has been using full time hospitalists to staff its general wards since 1999. Our hospitalists are general pediatricians focused on the care of children in the hospital.
Clinical Care
We are experts not only in the diseases of children admitted to the hospital, but we are skilled in helping children, their families, and the hospital staff in making hospital care as effective, efficient, safe, and comforting as possible.
Research
Faculty within the Hospitalist Service are actively engaged in clinical and educational research projects.
Education
The pediatric hospitalists are the primary teachers of general pediatrics to medical students and resident physicians at CS Mott Children’s Hospital. From morning bedside teaching rounds, to the supervision of procedures, to the admission and discharge of patients at any hour of the day or night, the hospitalists can be found observing, teaching, and giving feedback to medical trainees at all levels. Pediatric Hospitalists have won departmental and medical school teaching awards for the last 3 years.
