h Steven M. Donn, M.D. was appointed to serve as the Chairperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee on Medical Liability and Risk Management (COMLRM) for a 1-year period effective July 1, 2008.

Timothy Cornell, M.D. (Pediatric Critical Care Medicine) has been selected to receive the "Immunology Award" for the best submitted immunology abstract at the Society of Critical Care Medicine's 37th Annual Congress and was one of two national awardees to the Pediatric Critical Care Scientist Development Program, a multi-institutional K12 grant mechanism.
h Matthew F. Niedner, M.D. (Pediatric Critical Care Medicine) was appointed to the NACHRI-sponsored Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Clinical Faculty Steering Committee, a national body charged with developing the conceptual framework and measurement systems for quality improvement collaboratives in PICUs.

Friedhelm Hildebrandt, M.D. (Pediatric Nephrology) has been selected as a new Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator.

Valerie Castle, M.D. (Chair, Pediatrics; Pediatric Hematology/Oncology)has been selected as one of the inaugural Taubman Scholars.

Laurence Boxer, M.D. (Pediatric Hematology/Oncology) has been chosen to receive the 2008 Distinguished Career Award from the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Also in 2008, Dr. Boxer will receive Stanford University's J.E. Wallace Sterling “Muleshoe” Lifetime Alumni Achievement Award. This award is presented annually to an alumn of Stanford University School of Medicine in recognition of exceptional lifetime achievements.

Ram Menon, M.D., M.B.B.S. (Pediatric Endocrinology) will serve on the editorial board for The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism for four years starting January 2008.

Leena Dev, M.D. (Pediatric Hospitalist Service) received a grant from The Gilbert Whitaker Fund for the Improvement of Teaching.

Terence Joiner, M.D. (General Pediatrics) was recognized with a 2007 Local Heros Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
h Gregory Ensing, M.D. (Pediatric Cardiology) was elected to a 3-year term on the board of directors to the American Society of Echocardiography.
h Jennifer Meyers, M.D. (Pediatric Hospitalist Service) was chosen as the faculty recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
h Matthew Davis, M.D., M.A.P.P. (General Pediatrics) was selected as the 2007 recipient of the national Nemours Award in Child Health Services Research.
h Donna Martin, M.D., Ph.D. (Medical Genetics) was selected as the University of Michigan's nominee for the 2007 John Merck Scholars Program in Biology of Developmental Disabilities in Children.
