For endocardial DDD pacing the longevity is better. The 8 year longevity exceeds 80 % equallying that of the atrial endocardial electrode. This further supports the recomendation for endocardial pacing over epicardial pacing whenever possible. Fortunately the longevity of epicardial DDD pacing generator is long enough to enable many children who require pacing at a young age to achieve a size large enough to allow endocardial pacing by the time of generator replacement.
