One distinct pattern that continues to be evident is the increasing use of dual chamber pacing in the pediatric patient. At last the use of dual chamber devices exceeds the use of single chamber devices as the benefits of dual chamber pacing are better recognized in the pediatric patient and the prior limitations - large generator size and difficulty with atrial electrodes are overcome. For the period 95-96 the implantations of dual chamber devices is almost 2:1 over single chamber devices.
