Dear Prospective Applicant:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our ACGME accredited five year Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program at the University of Michigan Health System. The first year is spent in a basic program designated by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery that complies with the most recent ACGME/RRC/ABOS requirements. It includes a rheumatology rotation, a skeletal radiology rotation, relevant surgical rotations, two months of orthopaedics and three weeks of vacation. The remaining four years are under the sole direction of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Interested applicants need only to apply through the Electronic Residency Matching Services (ERAS). Information regarding the ERAS program is available through your medical school dean's office. Your application will be considered complete with receipt of the following documents: 1 ) curriculum vitae; 2 ) medical school transcript; 3 ) USMLE score(s); 4 ) three letters of recommendation (one must be from the chair/head of your Orthopaedic Surgery program); and 5 ) dean's letter.
To assure complete and timely review of your application, we strongly recommend that all materials are received by October 17, 2007 (with exception of dean's letter). Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. After thorough review of the applications, competitive applicants will be extended an interview. Interviews are held November through January.
