Interview Day

Information about your interview day

On the day of your interview, we will meet with you beginning at 7:30 am in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Conference Room. You will be given an overview of the program, the University, and the city of Ann Arbor. Once this concludes, the interviews will begin.  After the interviews are completed, everyone will be transported to Medsport located at Domino Farms to tour our Sports Medicine facility and to eat lunch, at which point you will have the opportunity to talk with both faculty and residents.  After lunch, you will return to the Medical Center and a resident will be available to conduct tours (optional) of the clinical and research facilities.

Resident Interview Dates:

Friday, December 14th, 2012
Thursday, January 10th, 2013
Friday, January 18th, 2013

Interview

The Residency Coordinator will escort you to the interview location. We ask that you remain in the waiting room while waiting for your scheduled interviews. Schedule changes may occur, and if so, we will need to notify you. All candidates will be randomly assigned to interview with Dr. Carpenter, the department chairman, or Dr. Dougherty, the residency program director. In addition, you will interview with two other clinical or basic science faculty and one senior resident.

The "informal sessions" between your interviews are a great opportunity to talk with orthopaedic house officers. If you have any questions or concerns please let one of them know how they can be of assistance. They will be instrumental in your experience here at the University of Michigan and are extremely valuable resources.

Visitor Parking Validation

We will validate your visitor parking ticket. Please inform the Residency Coordinator by mid afternoon to receive a Validation Parking Voucher.

Coats and Luggage

Your coats and luggage will be stored in the Orthopaedic Surgery Conference room for the day.
