C.S. Mott Buckle Up! receives state traffic award
Ann Arbor, MI – The University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Buckle Up! program will be recognized on March 13 with a traffic safety award at the 13th Annual Michigan Traffic Safety Summit in East Lansing. The award will be presented by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission (GTSAC) for the program’s contributions to the safety and well-being of Michigan’s children.
“This award is great because it is an opportunity to honor those who make a difference in child passenger safety on a daily basis,” says Phyllis Blackman, pediatric surgery administrator. “It recognizes Mott Children’s Hospital as a place that cares about the safety of its patients and all children throughout the state of Michigan.”
A Governor’s Executive Order created GTSAC in 2002. Commission members include representatives from the state departments of community health, education, state police and transportation; the Office of Highway Safety Planning; and the Office of Services to the Aging. Each year the commission recognizes programs for their involvement and dedication to traffic safety.
The C.S. Mott’s Children Hospital Buckle Up! program offers a variety of services — including assistance with purchasing a low-cost convertible car seat, one-hour car seat classes and community-wide car seat inspections by certified technicians.
Car seat inspections are free and can be made by calling the Buckle Up! hotline at 734-763-2251.
The Mott Buckle Up! program and the Pediatric Trauma Program are part of the Pediatric Surgery division at the U-M Health System. To read more about the Buckle Up! Car Seat Inspection Program at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and its car seat regulations and tips, visit the Web site.
