Dearborn fire fighters to bring holiday cheer to young patients at U-M Trauma Burn Center on Dec. 12
Subhead
ANN ARBOR, MI – On Tuesday, Dec. 12, fire fighters from the Dearborn Fire Fighter’s Burn Drive will visit the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center to distribute gifts to burn-injured children during the center’s annual holiday party.
Children who have been treated for burn injuries at the U-M Trauma Burn Center have been invited to attend this special event, which will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Ford Auditorium lobby in U-M’s University Hospital.
The Dearborn Fire Department uses funds collected throughout the year to purchase new toys and games for children who have been injured in fires. The U-M Trauma Burn Center is just one of the facilities they plan to visit during the holiday season.
Trauma Burn Center physicians and nurses also will be on hand to welcome patients, help distribute gifts and share refreshments with the children and their families. The Dearborn Fire Department’s ‘Sparky the Fire Dog’ is expected to make an appearance at the event, too.
This holiday event is one of many organized by the U-M Trauma Burn Center throughout the year to meet the continuing emotional and physical needs of children living with a burn injury.
The U-M Trauma Burn Center is a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Verified Center by the American College of Surgeons and the American Burn Association. Each year, an average of 1,500 patients suffering from traumatic injuries and burns are admitted to the Center.
