ANN ARBOR, MI - The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers has been selected as one of the 2004 Solucient 100 Top Hospitals ® in the country - one of 15 honorees in the major teaching hospitals category, according to the results of the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: Benchmarks for Success study.
For the study, 3,033 acute-care hospitals with 25 beds or more were grouped into five categories: major teaching hospitals, teaching hospitals, large community hospitals, medium community hospitals and small community hospitals. Solucient compared these hospitals using nine clinical, financial and operating efficiency measures, including patient safety data, mortality, length of stay, financials and the percentage of the hospital's community it serves. Other major teaching hospitals to make the 100 Top Hospitals list include, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Yale-New Haven Hospital , and the Mayo Clinic-St. Mary's Hospital.
