ANN ARBOR, MI –On Monday, Dec.19, fire fighters with the Dearborn Fire Fighter’s Burn Drive will visit the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center to distribute holiday gifts to burn-injured children treated at U-M.

trauma burn logoThe event, part of the U-M Trauma Burn Center’s annual holiday party for patients, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Each December, the Dearborn Fire Department uses funds collected during its Burn Drive to purchase new toys and games for children who have been injured in fires. The U-M Trauma Burn Center is just one of the facilities the group will visit during the holiday season.

U-M Trauma Burn Center physicians and nurses also will be on hand to welcome the former patients, help distribute gifts and share refreshments with the children and their families.

The Dearborn Fire Department’s “Sparky the Fire Dog” is expected to make an appearance at the holiday event too.

This event, one of many organized by the U-M Trauma Burn Center throughout the year, helps to meet the continuing emotional and physical needs of children living with a burn injury.

The U-M Trauma Burn Center is a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Verified Center by the American College of Surgeons and the American Burn Association. Each year, an average of 1,500 patients suffering from traumatic injuries and burns receive care at U-M.

For more information on the U-M Trauma Burn Center’s holiday party for burn injured children, call  (734) 998-8451 or (734) 998-8452.
