U-M Trauma Burn is Level 1 trauma and burn verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Verified trauma and burn centers offer specialized care, services, equipment and staff who are trained to treat serious burn and trauma injuries

    • 1 trauma fellow
    • 44 RNs
    • 1 LPN
    • 11 surgical ICU technicians
    • 3 medical technologists
    • 2 certified tissue-bank specialists

    • General surgeons, Orthopedic surgeons
    • Plastic surgeons, Neurosurgeons
    • Rehabilitation physicians
    • Respiratory, physical and occupational therapists
    • Injury prevention specialists
    • Chaplains
    • Social Workers
    • Case Managers
    • Dietitians and Nutritionists
  • Our center includes
    • 10 intensive care unit beds
    • 6 acute care beds
    • Dedicated operating room
    • Wound debridement suite
    • Skin bank/laboratory
    • Outpatient clinic
    • Family activity room
    • Hotel connected to University Hospital
    • Access to Ronald McDonald House
    • Additional adult and pediatric intensive care units within the Medical Center
  • Patients are treated for
    • Adult trauma
    • Adult and pediatric burns
    • Adult emergency and elective general surgery
  • Transport services
    • 3 Survival Flight twin engine Bell 430 helicopters
    • 1 fixed-wing Cessna Citation jet
    • 1 mobile intensive care unit
    • Ground transport
  • Care delivery
    • Multi-disciplinary team approach from admission through rehabilitation and discharge
    • ICU patients receive individualized nursing care
    • Burn care provided by burn wound care team composed of nurses and technicians
    • Weekly family support group meetings
