Pelvic Floor Research Group (PFRG) Day
PFRG Day
Next year's PFRG Day is planned for February 3, 2009. Information will follow as details become available.
The annual Pelvic Floor Research Day at the University of Michigan has become an important forum for the many researchers across the university to gather and exchange ideas and interests concerning the many ongoing projects at our institution. Each year we have convened investigators and staff for a day long series of presentations and discussion. We have had between 10 and 15 presentations each year with topic-focused discussion on future directions. Attendance each year has grown and in 2009 approximately over 60 attendees came from Medicine (OB/GYN, Urology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Anesthesiology, Pediatrics), Nursing and nursing research, Engineering, Biostatistics, Anatomy, Institute of Gerontology, Institute for Social Research, Institute for Research on Women and Gender, and the School of Public Health.
PFRG Day 2009

PFRG Day 2009 was held in Palmer Commons, which is centrally located on the UofM campus. This year Rebecca Rogers, MD, Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico, was the keynote speaker and shared with us her research on pelvic floor disorders and vaginal childbirth. Key researchers in Urology, Public Health, Radiology, Nursing, Obstetrics and Urogynecology from the University of Michigan all gave presentations and we added a poster session expanding our ability to include even more students, faculty and staff to share their research and interests. Newcomers had the opportunity to see the expanse of pelvic floor research being conducted throughout the University. During lunch students and other participants had the opportunity to sit with conference presentors, investigators and staff to continue more intimate conversations and follow-up on the days preceedings.
The 2009 PFRG Day was sponsored by grants from NIH SCOR P50 HD44406 (ORWH SCOR Grants) , Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), The Institute for Research on Women and Gender (IRWG), and The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN)
