Health Services Research Training Program
Physicians, with an interest in health services research, will enter the program after having completed residency and/or fellowship training on obstetrics and gynecology.
This training program will provide the experience and skills that are necessary to design and carryout rigorous health services reserach to answer questions relevant to the health care of women. Training will specifically include a mentored research program and work that will develop understanding and capabilities related to health system leadership.
This program is funded by the National Institutes of Heatlh and integrated with four other University of Michigan training programs.
How the Program Works
Each trainee will be supported by a mentor team that will consist of a physician health services researcher, a health services researcher with a doctorate, and an obstetrician/gynecologist with expertise in health services research.
Trainees will complete one of three curriculum plans leading to a MPH in Health Management and Policy, MS in Clinical research Design and Statistics, or a MS in Clinical Research Design and Statistics, or a MS in Health and Healthcare Research.
Applicant Requirements
Completion of MD or DO and an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The Selection Process
Trainees will be selected from the pool of applicants using criteria which includes:
- Research experience
- Academic record
- Clinical perspective
- Personal qualifications
- Commitment ot health services research in women's health
Fellows will devote a minimum of 75% of their time in health services research and training.
