My
passion is to fully and whole-heartedly work with staff
to create a culture where nurses want to practice and
build their careers. I strongly believe that as a nursing
community the quality of the relationships we have with
each other as well as with other members of the healthcare
team deeply impact the quality and effectiveness of
our relationships with patients. Creating an infrastructure
and a work environment that supports the professional
and person al growth of our nurses both individually
and as a community is my strong desire. "

Professional Overview
Juanita
held a variety of nursing positions in the specialty of Pediatrics
prior to joining the University of Michigan Health System
(UMHS) in 1990. Her initial role at UMHS was as an Assistant
Head Nurse in a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow
Transplant unit. She subsequently became one of the first
Cancer Answer Line Nurses, then House Manager, Central Staffing
Resource. In late summer of 2002, Juanita accepted the position
of Director of Retention.
