Our Patient and Families
Primarily, our patient population includes adult clients requiring surgical interventions for all services with the exception of Ophthalmology. Occasionally, non-adult clients are admitted to the unit. There are 27 operating rooms, 25 of which are currently in use.

Philosophy of Care
We believe that Operating Room Nurses have an obligation to provide the best quality care for every client, to meet the needs of each individual client as a whole, and to make the OR experience less stressful and traumatic as possible. In the process, we continually strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism with a strong emphasis on education and training. In keeping with the University Mission, we seek to "preserve and refine knowledge already acquired as well as the production, dissemination, and utilization of knowledge."

Our Nursing Team
A multidisciplinary team approach is the nursing care delivery system utilized. A form of primary nursing is also utilized.
