Our Patient and Families
The Surgical Observation Unit is a 13 bay unit specializing in the care of short stay surgical and procedural patients.  Post-operative care is provided for a wide range of surgical patients that require brief, but intensive monitoring and teaching. The nurses and physicians In the Surgical Observation Unit are experts in the care for the above types of patients, as well as experts in post-operative pain management and discharge education. Nursing care is individualized to each patient and/or family in order to address and meet their personal needs..

Philosophy of Care
Patients and their families can expect to receive comprehensive, age specific, family centered care in an environment that support s the philosophy of acute care nursing in a state of the art facility. Nurses work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals/staff to meet patient/family needs. As an interdisciplinary team, the quality of care we provide is continually assessed and evaluated for on-going performance improvement to meet the changing needs of our patients and the environment. The nursing staff provide leadership in the nursing profession by participating with student education and research.

Members of the Surgical Observation Staff come from a wide variety of practice settings and enjoy capitalizing on the strengths that each of them bring to the unit.
