Our Patient and Families

The Mott Operating Rooms are responsible for intraoperative care of the patients. The patient population consists of neonates through adults undergoing diagnostic or major/minor surgical procedures. We provide patient care for a variety of surgical services including Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Dental, Plastics, and Transplant. Currently there are eight operating rooms and one treatment room.

Philosophy of Care

In keeping with the University Mission, we place patients and families first. Families are provided with updates as appropriate via telephone to the family waiting room. Additionally the staff hosts preoperative hours that include a visit to an operating room. We also practice under the guidelines of the American Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).

Our Nursing Team

The Mott OR staff consists of registered nurses, surgical technicians, medical assistants, instrument processors and operating room aides. Each service has a registered nurse as a service lead who coordinates the needs of each surgical specialty.
