My Unborn Child

My unborn child; the first time
I knew you were there, was the
night your mother surprised me with
the news. I want you to know I was the
happiest man alive!

The joy of knowing I was going to
be a dad again overwhelmed me with
tears of joy.
I'm writing this letter to let
you know how much you mean to me.
Just knowing you were coming
put love in my heart. I would wake up at night
just wondering what you would look like.
The yearning I had to hold you,
to touch you, to kiss and look into your eyes
and say I Love You.

The day I heard your heart beat
I felt my heart race with every beat of yours.
I felt joy in the sound of life coming
from you and your mother.
Then the day came when I first saw you.
But it was also the day I lost you.

That day was filled with joy and sadness.
The sight of your little body
without that beautiful heartbeat was
more than I could take.
Knowing you were coming and now you
were gone. I want you to know my
heart is filled with sadness now that you
are gone.. But I am also filled with joy and love
knowing that you were my
CHILD and I was your DAD.

This letter is to let you know that I LOVE YOU
and I will always remember you in my heart.
