Janet has been a member of the UMHS Nursing Services since 1975. She began her career as a staff nurse in Dermatology and has advanced both clinically and administratively over the years.

Janet has experience teaching in both Hospital and School of Nursing educational programs, participating in past UMPNC contract negotiations and recently she has been instrumental in obtaining nursing educational grants for both the Pediatrics and Adult Hematology/Oncology/BMT programs. Her work has concentrated in medical-surgical areas with specialty experience in dermatology and cancer.

Janet progressed through the clinical track as a CNI, CNII, and Educational Nurse Coordinator. Since 1981 she has served in various nursing administration roles--Assistant Head Nurse, Head Nurse, Expanded Nurse Manager, and now in the Director role.

In 1999, Janet was the recipient of Distinguished Alumna of the Year Award given by the Department of Nursing at Eastern Michigan University. She is a member of the national Comprehensive Cancer Centers Nurse Executive Group, Oncology Nursing Society, and Sigma Theta Tau. In addition to serving on the Cancer Center Executive Committee, Cancer Steering Committee, and the Cancer Center Operations Committee, Janet also holds an appointment on the Medical Campus Radiation Policy Committee.
