Our Patient and Families
APS is a consulting service that encompasses a multidisciplinary approach with a collaboratively managed patient care focus. The team involves physicians, nurses, complimented with other support services including Pharmacy and the Gifts of Art, program with their bedside music therapists.

Our patients range in age from15 years through those in their 90’s, our most common patient population includes patients with acute surgical pain, chronic pain, acute and chronic pain, and cancer pain. These patients have PCA’s, epidurals, nerve blocks, implanted intrathecal pumps, spinal cord stimulators, transdermal pain medications, and PO and IV pain medications.

Philosophy of Care
We believe that Acute Pain Service Nurses have an obligation to provide the best quality care for every client, to meet the needs of each individual client as a whole, and to make the inpatient  experience the most comfortable and non-traumatic as possible. In the process, we continually strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism with a strong emphasis on education and training. In keeping with the Mission of our institution, we seek to "preserve and refine knowledge already acquired as well as the production, dissemination, and utilization of knowledge".

Our Nursing Team
A multidisciplinary team approach is the nursing care delivery system utilized. APS nurses provide a full range of pain management services to patients and families, including assessment ,education, emotional support, patient/family advocacy, treatment interventions, as well as coordination and collaboration with the patient’s entire health care team. The plan of care is developed based upon assessment data and APS policies/standards.
