Our
Patient and Families
8A is
a 32-bed unit comprising a mix of adult patients with hematology/oncology
disorders, patients receiving brachytherapy, and bone marrow/stem
cell transplant patients Also the unit has an infusion room
servicing both the cancer and internal medicine outpatients.
The delivery of care is based on a collaborative approach
among nursing, medicine and other services. Our highly specialized
team promotes optimal care based on high professional standards.
Philosophy
of Care
Coordinated Care is a process recently
introduced on 8A which involves Nursing, Medicine, and other
services, working together collaboratively to evaluate patients'
needs and treatment plans. Care is outcome directed, based
on goals determined by the patient, family, and healthcare
team, and is delivered with an emphasis on efficiency and
excellence.
Our Nursing Team
Nursing on 8A is highly
skilled and specialized in the practice of bone marrow/stem
cell transplant. The 8A environment fosters the professional
development of hematology/oncology and bone marrow/stem cell
transplant nurses, individually and collectively. It maintains
an organizational structure and function that is responsive
to the changing needs in the oncology field and the clients
it represents.
