Our Patient and Families
5 West Mott is a 22 bed positive, energetic pediatric unit where patients range in age from premature neonates to young adults.
We have general pediatric medicine and surgery patients as well as the specialty services of GI, Pulmonary, ID, Liver Transplant, Genetics, OTO, and Plastic Surgery.

Philosophy of Care
On 5 West Mott our passion is to provide world-class family centered care. We encourage play, always try to make someone’s day, choose a positive attitude and try to be there for everyone. We work as a multidisciplinary team whose commitment to excellence is underscored only by our commitment to patients and their families.

Our Nursing Team
The care team provides for the delivery of care on 5W. The role of our RNs is to coordinate the plan of care and assume accountability for that plan. Supported by our unit's LPNs, they are responsible for ongoing communication between families and the health care team. Nursing Assistants work with RNs to provide direct care to our patients.

5 West utilizes the Professional Practice Model as the unit governance. There are two councils, Operations and Coordinating Council (OCC) and Clinical Practice, Education and Research Council (CPER) that meet one a regular basis to address clinical practice as well as operational issues.
