Our Patient and Families
5C is a 32-bed general care unit for transplant and gastrointestinal surgery patients. Common medical diagnoses of patients on 5C include: end-stage kidney disease, end-stage liver disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, pancreatitis and GI bleeding. Common surgical procedures performed on 5C patients include: kidney, pancreas/kidney and liver transplants; small bowel resections; and whipple procedures. Patients range in age from young adult to the elderly.

Philosophy of Care
The nursing staff of 5C is dedicated to the delivery of quality nursing care in a professional, humanistic and cost-efficient manner. Our staff work collaboratively with each other and other members of the healthcare team to provide high quality patient care as well as leadership in nursing through their participation in education and research activities. Total patient care is the nursing care delivery system practiced on 5C.
