Extracurricular Activities
U-M Neurosurgery residents enjoy a strong sense of camaraderie, and it is not unusual for residents and their families to get together for dinners, watch football, work out, or even vacation together.
Throughout the year, the Neurosurgery Department sponsors several parties and social events including the following:
- Welcome party in August/September honoring new residents/interns
- Annual Seafood & Soup Bonfire/Halloween party
- Holiday party
- Annual Neurosurgery vs. ENT athletic showdown in Spring – whether it’s softball or football, the U-M Neurosurgery Department holds a perfect record against our otolaryngology colleagues
- Motor City Golf Classic to benefit the University of Michigan Department of Neurosurgery (started by one of Dr. Chandler’s grateful patients)
- End-of-year golf outing and banquet honoring chief residents
