Neuromuscular
All members of the Neuromuscular Program are actively involved in clinical and/or basic science research. Clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents are frequently available to interested patients. Specific research interests include investigations of the pathophysiology and treatment of:
- amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- diabetic neuropathy
- disorders of neuromuscular transmission
- inflammatory myopathies
- inflammatory neuropathy
- metabolic myopathies
- neuropathic pain
- neuromuscular complications of critical illness
Funding sources include the National Institutes of Health, several disease-related foundations, and many other national and local sources. Much of the research in the Neuromuscular Program is performed in conjunction with the Program for Understanding Neurologic Diseases.
