Residency Training Program
Hometown: Glenview, IL
Undergrad: University of Michigan
Med school: University of Illinois - Chicago
I was born in Tehran, Iran and immigrated here at 8 years of age during the end-trail of the Iran-Iraq War with my two engineer parents and two younger sisters. We lived in Glenview, Illinois. In order to learn "what's out there," I attended University of Michigan for undergraduate years, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies. I used to volunteer at Mott Childrens Hospital in the activity room, and always envied the residents. I went back to Chicago for medical school at University of Illinois-Chicago on a General Assembly scholarship. I chose neurology given that I love the long-term patient relationships and the highly cognitive task of diagnosis. I returned to University of Michigan for residency, having been apart from my one and only love for 4 years, whom I then married on 7/7/07. Where to go next from here, I love all specialty fields of neurology with exception of 2, which will be my secret. And so, general neurology is my cup of tea, so I see a little bit of everything. However, I do desire to complete an EMG/neuromuscular fellowship prior to starting my own practice.
