All members of the Neuromuscular Program are actively involved in clinical and/or basic science research. Clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents are frequently available to interested patients. Specific research interests include investigations of the pathophysiology and treatment of:

•  amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

•  diabetic neuropathy

•  inflammatory neuropathy

•  neuropathic pain

•  metabolic myopathies

•  inflammatory myopathies

•  disorders of neuromuscular transmission

•  neuromuscular complications of critical illness

Funding sources include the NIH, various disease related foundations as well as numerous other national and local sources. Much of the research in the Neuromuscular Program is performed in conjunction with the Program for Understanding Neurologic Diseases (http://www.med.umich.edu/pfund/)
