James W. Teener, M.D.
Clinical Associate Professor
Director, Neuromuscular Program
My main research interest can be broadly stated as the application of electrodiagnostic techniques to improve the understanding of a variety of neurologic and medical conditions. I collaborate widely and provide electrodiagnostic expertise for a number of projects. I am particularly interested in weakness which develops in the setting of critical illness. I utilize nerve and muscle pathology, direct muscle stimulation and other electrodiagnostic techniques to further our understanding of the pathophysiology and epidemiology of weakness in the ICU.
A second major research interest of mine is the development and testing of new and improved treatments for neuromuscular disorders. The neuromuscular program conducts clinical trials of promising drugs and procedures on an ongoing basis. |
