Dr. Selwa's clinical research focuses on cognitive issues in epilepsy. She has investigated cognitive outcomes after epilepsy surgery, the use of the Wada test, diagnosis and treatment of non epileptic seizures and cultural issues in treatment of epilepsy. She is currently the site investigator in an NIH trial studying the effects of treating obstructive sleep apnea in refractory epilepsy. Other interests in the epilepsy field include long term surgical and nonsurgical outcomes in epilepsy with and without invasive monitoring. Other areas of interest include improving neurologic education in allied specialties, and the role of caffeine and lifestyle issues in migraine.
