Dr. Heidebrink's research involves multiple aspects of the recognition and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. She is interested in methods to enhance the recognition and management of dementia by community physicians. She studies the use of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia. She conducts clinical drug trials to identify new treatments for Alzheimer's disease. She is a member of the Clinical Core of the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. In this role, she collects longitudinal data on the clinical course of Alzheimer's disease and related conditions. She also supervises the Gift of Knowledge Program, a study of older adults who do not have cognitive impairment.
