Dr. Fink uses herpes simplex virus-based vectors to investigate the pathogenesis of and potential treatments for the peripheral nervous system. Gene transfer of neurotrophic factors in rodent models of polyneuropathy and an extensive program in chronic pain including models of central and peripheral neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, and pain resulting from cancer in bone are currently in progress.
