Dr. Chou has two main research interests: 1) Non-motor features and functional issues in Parkinson's Disease (PD) and 2) deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders. He has published on psychosis, olfactory function, sleep issues, rhinorrhea and sialorrhea in PD patients, and has recently conducted a study on contrast sensitivity in Parkinson’s disease patients who have undergone DBS. Current work is focused on the issue of driving in PD, and how to predict when it is unsafe for PD patients to drive.
