Cultural Competency - Employee Needs Assessment
Employee cultural competency needs assessments are conducted on a routine basis. Questions address what employees have learned, would like to learn and are concerned about regarding providing culturally competent health care. Preferred educational methods are also assessed.
2002 Employee Cultural Competency Needs Assessment
In 2002, the Cultural Competency Division conducted a cultural competency needs assessment of UMHS employees. The on-line assessment was completed by 474 employees. Questions included:
- how likely one would access a cultural consultant,
- for which cultures a cultural consultant would be accessed,
- topics employees would like more information about, and
- preferred educational methods.
This project was incorporated into our annual quality improvement plan. For additional information about results view our quality improvement storyboard.
