Parent FAQ

  1. How do I enroll my child in the weight management program?
If your child is between 13 and 17 years old and needs to lose weight, please speak with his/her primary care physician and request a referral to the center or contact us directly to make an appointment.

  2. Is the cost of the program covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage varies from person to person. However, many of the intensive services included in this program are typically not covered by insurance currently. If you wish to submit an insurance claim, we will be happy to provide you with itemized statements and assist you in with this process.

  3. How long is the weight loss program?
The initial phase of the weight loss program is designed to be completed in about 6 months. Once your child has completed this 6 month program additional visits will be arranged based on your child's individual needs.

  4. Who should attend the visits with my child?
Children are more likely to lose weight when they have the support of their parents. We encourage both parents to attend as many appointments as possible, especially the initial evaluation and the feedback session. If this is not possible, we require that at least one parent accompany their child to each appointment. Children can't make lifestyle changes without the support of their entire family, so other family members (e.g. grandparents) may also attend the visits.
