About the New Hospital
Why a new Women's Hospital?
Health care has changed dramatically and the demand for care has grown greatly since Women's Hospital opened in 1950. The existing facility is too small for the number of patients served, and many aspects of the facility are increasingly obsolete.
As part of the University of Michigan Health System's 1.1 million square-foot Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital project, a new Women's Hospital will -- thanks in part, to the generosity of the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation -- be an integral part of the new facility.
