Trail's Edge Camp: About Us

Trail’s Edge Camp is staffed by volunteers and funded through donations. Since 1990, this ambitious accomplishment of caring that has provided a five-day, five-night summer camp experience for campers ages five through 18 who are ventilator-dependent and medically fragile. Camp is held during the first full week in June at the Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning, a beautiful barrier-free camp on 200 acres in Mayville, Michigan.

This beautiful facility sits beside a natural inland lake which makes boating, fishing and swimming an important part of the fun for campers. In addition, there is horseback riding, archery, tree climbing and the Craig Van Laanen Tree House - , a structure designed to be accessible to campers, no matter what their disability.  The tree house is nestled in the woods 25 feet off the ground and there is a place for campers to leave their wheelchairs behind as they enter the canopy of the trees to hang out with friends.
