Patients and families were all smiles when Detroit Red Wings Kris Draper and the Stanley Cup made a surprise visit to Mott.
Detroit Red Wings center Kris Draper delighted dozens of Mott patients during a surprise visit September 15, when he took the Stanley Cup from room to room and posed for photos with patients. He visited rooms on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors of Mott -- signing autographs, giving out Red Wings toys and stickers, and letting parents hold babies inside the three-foot tall Stanley Cup.
Some parents said Draper's visit was the first time their children had smiled in weeks. And parents, physicians and nurses were as excited as the patients to see a local hero and perhaps the most famous trophy in all of sports.
