- Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine: The Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine (CBSSM) is a new center in the Medical School at the University of Michigan, created by the recent merger of the Bioethics Program with the Center for Behavioral and Decision Sciences in Medicine (CBDSM). The new Center represents a unique opportunity for the University of Michigan to integrate bioethics with key social science disciplines and will bring together in one entity research, education, policy work, and service. CBSSM is co-directed by Drs. Angela Fagerlin and Scott Kim. The strong tradition of research that was established in the Bioethics Program and CBDSM will continue at CBSSM. Researchers pursue groundbreaking investigations on such topics as doctor-patient communication, psychological adaptation to disability, health care rationing, social cognition, decision aids to communicate risk, informed consent, deliberative democracy, informed consent, and more.
