Nursing
As a part of the U-M Health System’s world-renowned nursing community, the nursing staff at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital prides itself on providing competent and compassionate patient-focused care to children ranging in age from newborn to young adult.
Mott nurses are integral members of Michigan’s collaborative multidisciplinary health care teams. They possess skills that meet the unique needs of the pediatric population, including proficiency in individualized assessment and knowledge related to growth and development, pain assessment and treatment, and safety. They are committed to enhancing professional nursing practice through education and research, as well as providing continuity between care settings. And they are exceptionally dedicated to delivering family centered care – working with patients’ family members to best meet the needs of each individual child.
Because we provide a broad spectrum of services, Mott nurses can choose to work in a variety of specialty areas, including: general medical surgical units; our congenital heart unit; and the hematology/oncology unit. Intensive care units include a neonatal ICU, a congenital heart ICU and a General/Trauma ICU. Mott Hospital also has its own operating and recovery rooms. All units have very specialized orientation and educational programs to enhance nursing practice.
