Pediatric Home Ventilator Program: What to Expect
The information on this page is provided to help you and your family prepare for your first visit with the Pediatric Home Ventilator Program health care team.
Before you come
If you take some time to prepare before your clinic visit, the visit will be more efficient for you. We suggest that you review all of your child’s medications and note which ones, if any, need to be refilled. Bring along any paperwork that needs to be completed, and records of previous medical care. Jot down any questions or concerns that you have so that they can be addressed by the health care team.
Where to go
Our clinic is located on the first level of the Taubman Center in reception area “D.” The Taubman Center is located at 1500 East Medical Center Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. (A virtual tour of Taubman Center is available.) Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment to allow for parking and finding your way to clinic. Valet parking is available at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital circle drive. There is a fee for valet parking.
The visit
Please plan three hours for clinic visits. This may seem very long, but this is the time it takes for all team members to see the patient and perform necessary testing. Due to the length of the visit, we recommend leaving siblings at home, if possible.
We also recommend bringing another adult with you. Not only will those extra hands be helpful in taking care of your child, but this will also allow for an extra set of ears to hear all the information given at the visit.
At the end of your visit, we will provide a written summary of orders and recommendations. Please ask questions during any point of the visit and if you find you have questions after you’ve left, you can call us at 734-615-3267.
