Mott Patient Family Advisory Council provides a venue for input into policy and program development
The best advice often comes from someone who’s been there before. That’s exactly the perspective the Mott Patient Family Advisory Council brings to the table.
The recently formed council, which is comprised of two−thirds patients and families and one−third Mott staff, serves as an advisory resource to administration and staff. Together, their goal is to improve relationships among patients, families and staff.
"The Council provides a venue for patients and families to provide input into policy and program development," says Kelly Parent, parent coordinator of Mott Children’s Hospital and the parent of a former Mott patient. "It also provides the Mott care providers and administrators a forum for receiving and responding to input on a regular basis."
The Mott Patient Family Advisory Council, comprised of patients, families and staff, meets regularly to identify opportunities to improve relationships among all three groups. Kelly Parent (pictured left), parent coordinator for Mott, leads the group in their discussions.
The patients and families who participate in the Council have experienced a variety of clinical departments, programs and outcomes at Mott Children’s Hospital. They each bring their own personal experience, but also serve as the voice for many other families and patients who have similar experiences at Mott.
"It's a great forum and helps us make sure families and patients remain at the center of all we do," says Parent. |
