Kids Burn Camp Named Kiwanis Governor's Project
Michigan Kiwanis presents Kids Burn Camp with $30,000 donation
Kids Burn Camp for burn injured children has been designated the 2006 Governor’s Project of the Michigan District of Kiwanis International. As such, the camp which is managed by the U-M Trauma Burn Center, Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo’s Bronson Hospital, was the benefactor of fundraising dollars collected by Kiwanis clubs throughout Michigan.
On Tuesday, May 23, Fred Model, governor of the Michigan District of Kiwanis International and Bob Breyer, chair of the Governor’s Project, presented a check for $30,000 to U-M Trauma Burn Center faculty and Kids Burn Camp representatives.
“I was impressed by the passion and commitment of the nurses, social workers and fire fighters that are involved with this project and return year after year on their own time, at their own expense,” says Model. “I chose Kids Burn Camp as my project because all children deserve the best possible start in life. These kids need our support-together we can make a difference in the life of a child.”
Every year, children ages 8 to 17, who have been treated for a burn injury within the state of Michigan are invited to attend Kids Burn Camp free of charge.
